Overall assessment of the course
The course was well received by students. Many demonstrated active engagement during lectures, frequently contributing examples and questions. However, experiences varied during the seminar work. While some sessions saw varying levels of participation, others—particularly those centered on critical thinking and discussion—were marked by student shyness and lower levels of interaction.  

Comments regarding the feedback from the students
Student feedback indicated that the course felt intensive, not due to the content itself but due to limited teaching hours. I (Alessandra) personally feel the need for at least one additional lecture to adequately cover all material. This is particularly relevant as many students were encountering sociological concepts for the first time, which required extra explanation. Some students were unfamiliar with foundational figures or methods (e.g., we spent extra time on the distinction between correlation and causation), indicating a need for more time dedicated to basic theoretical and methodological grounding. I suspect this depends on the fact that for many international students this was the first time ever studying sociology. 

Summary of the free-text answers in the course feedback
The students praised us teachers, which was very nice to see. The also expressed appreciation for the slides. However, some students seemed to think that only four lectures were too little to cover all the course content; they also noted a certain misalignment sometimes between the content of classes and seminars – but I still see an improvement in the feedback compared to previous editions of this course, in which more students were critical of the lack of cohesion between seminars and lectures. 

Events during the course that may have influenced its success
Students responded positively to the structure and delivery of the lectures. The use of visually engaging and information-dense slides helped maintain attention and supported comprehension, especially for students engaging with English-language academic material for the first time. I also tried to use rel life examples and pop culture references, such as TikTok videos and IG posts.

Comments regarding the examination results
The examination results were generally satisfactory. Student performance reflected a good understanding of course content. I think the format of the exam works really well – one essay type of question and two open questions.

Planned changes or improvements to the course
Based on feedback and teaching experience, I would recommend to extend the total number of teaching hours by at least one lecture. Additionally, more time should be allocated for coordinating the sequence and structure of lectures and seminars between the lecturers, to ensure a more cohesive learning experience and improved flow across sessions.
